Cervical lymphadenopathy from Kikuchi Fujimoto disease

Presentation

Left-sided cervical painful swelling for 10 days. Referred for neck ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Multiple nodes are noted at left levels II, III, IV, V and supraclavicular region.

Nodes are subcentimeter in size in short axis.

Nodes are ovoid and hypoechoic.

Hilar fat is poorly visualized. However, hilar - central type vascularity is noted.

No cystic area calcification is noted.

Periadenitis is noted sparing level IV and supraclavicular regions.

Both submandibular glands and superficial lobes of both parotid glands show normal echopattern and size.

Thyroid gland shows normal echopattern. No focal nodule is noted in either of its lobes. Normal vascularity is noted within the gland.

No cervical lymphadenopathy or mass lesion is noted in right anterior triangle.

Excision biopsy of largest node was done.

Histopathology - Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease.
