Cervical prevertebral soft tissue mass

Plain radiograph of neck shows an ill-defined soft tissue mass in the prevertebral space exerting mass effect on the trachea.
Case Discussion
Normally, prevertebral soft tissues—both retrolaryngeal soft tissue and retropharyngeal soft tissue—measure less than 7 mm at C2 and less than 22 mm at C7, respectively. However, in this case, the retropharyngeal soft tissue appears more prominent than normal.
Further imaging and examinations in the oncology department confirmed laryngeal carcinoma (further examination results are not provided here).
