Presentation

Road traffic accident.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Incidental findings of right cervical rib arising from the C7 vertebra. Bony protrusion/exostosis from the midpart of right first rib seen articulating with this cervical rib forming a pseudoarthrosis.

Acute fracture of visualized right scapula. No acute cervical spine fracture.

Bilateral apical chronic lung changes.

Case Discussion

Cervical ribs are anatomical variants which are important to recognize as they may cause thoracic outlet syndrome. They rarely form pseudoarthrosis with the first rib 1-3. This patient was asymptomatic before the accident.
