Known case of rheumatoid arthritis, being evaluated for cervical spine, where rheumatologist is querying atlanto-axial dislocation.

Patient Data

Age: 60
Gender: Male

An irregular 'pannus' appearing isointense on T1W and hyperintense on T2W images is seen, with increased atlantoaxial distance.

Case Discussion

This case shows characteristic 'pannus' formation around the dens, and atlanto-axial dislocation in rheumatoid arthritis, with narrowing of the foramen magnum and impingement of cervicomedullary junction.
