Cervical spondylodiscitis

Presentation

Severe neck pain and painful swallowing.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
ct

Kyphotic deformity C5-C6 level with narrowed disc space and irregular bony destruction mainly of the neighboring vertebral endplates. A large multiseptated prevertebral and retropharyngeal collections extending from C2-C3 downwards up to C7-T1 with cortical destruction of the left anterolateral aspect of C7 vertebral body. Soft tissue thickening with enhancement of the anterior epidural space extending from C4-C5 up to C7-T1 level, containing small abscess formations, displacing the spinal cord posteriorly.

 

 

Case Discussion

CT features C5-C6 spondylodiscitis with kyphotic deformity, large prevertebral/retropharyngeal abscess as well as small anterior epidural abscess formations.
