Cervical vertebrae metastasis

Two week history of neck pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Cervical spine

There is a mass at the right anterior arch of the C1 vertebra with postcontrast enhancement. It is abutting but not extending into the odontoid process and there is no involvement of the C2 vertebral body. It is extending into the vertebral canal with associated mild narrowing of the canal but it is not contacting the spinal cord.

Conclusion: Solitary destructive lesion centered on the right anterior arch of the C1 vertebra.

Case Discussion

This patient had a known history of left renal cell carcinoma. MRI findings in keeping with renal cell carcinoma metastasis to the right anterior vertebral arch of C1.
