Patient with history of acute right hand trauma. Wrist tenderness.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Male

Sagittal radial styloid fracture that goes from the distal articular surface and sagital to the distal metaphysis.

Other bones otherwise normal.

No dissociation or dislocation.

Ulnar styloid process is normal.

Case Discussion

Chauffeur fractures are intraarticular fractures of the radial styloid process secondary to trauma to the back of the wrist or from forced dorsiflexion and abduction.

Findings associated to this kind of fractures are:

  • scapholunate dissociation,
  • scaphoid-perilunate dislocation and
  • ulnar styloid fracture.
