Vertebral height, disc height, bone marrow signal, alignment, and prevertebral soft tissues are normal. The cerebellar tonsils protrude 14 mm below foramen magnum consistent with a Chiari 1 malformation. Part of the medulla, including the obex, is also inferiorly displaced to the level of C1 and tip of the dens, sometimes referred to as Chiari 1.5 malformation.
The cord is normal in signal with no syrinx. The canal and neural exit foramina are capacious. Normal flow voids are demonstrated within the vertebral arteries. Limited views of the posterior fossa are unremarkable.
