Case Discussion
This case demonstrates a symptomatic Chiari I malformation (stage III) with brainstem compression and syrinx.
The patient was treated with decompression of the posterior fossa by removing part of the occipital bone and the posterior arch of C1.
The medullary syrinx showed a subtotal regression after the surgery.
