Chilaiditi's sign

Cough and fever.

Patient Data

Age: 87 years
Gender: Male

There is transposition of a loop of large intestine (usually transverse colon) in between the diaphragm and the liver, visible on plain abdominal X-ray or chest X-ray.

Normally this causes no symptoms and is called Chilaiditi's sign.

Case Discussion

Chilaiditi's syndrome is when the patient experiences symptoms by ways of abdominal pain, breathless and volvulus of the bowel.
