Choledochal cyst

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Recent episode of fever, treated with amoxicillin with subsequent improvement. No signs of jaundice.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female

The study shows a cystic mass (CC) between pancreatic head (PH) and the gallbladder (GB). Smooth wall and homogeneous anechoic content was detected.

Case Discussion

The ultrasound study (performed for suspicious upper urinary tract infection) showed a cystic mass between pancreatic head and the gallbladder. Smooth wall and homogeneous anechoic content was detected.

The study is compatible with dilatation of extrahepatic bile duct, that's also known as a  choledochal cyst. This is the type 1 of Todani classification of bile duct cysts.
