Choledocholithiasis and cholecystolithiasis

RUQ pain, elevated liver enzymes and chronic jaundice.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Female

Dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts and common bile duct (common bile duct 20 mm).

The gallbladder filled with multiple gallstones.

Multiple filling deffects (stones) are seen within intrahepatic bile ducts and common bile duct.

Case Discussion

MRCP has an overall accuracy far superior to CT and US in depicting calculi in the bile ducts.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with sphincterotomy is the treatment of choice for choledocholithiasis.
