Chondral fracture of the femorotibial joint

Presentation

Knee pain and effusion after playing badminton.

Patient Data

Age: 45
Gender: Female
Modality: MRI

There is a loose chondral body in the lateral parapatellar recess and a sharply delineated chondral defect of the lateral femoral condyle, neighbouring the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus.

Case Discussion

These acute chondral injuries are easily overlooked if there is no subchondral signal alteration.
