Presentation

Painful right shoulder.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
ct

A well-defined eccentric bony lytic lesion of the proximal humeral epiphysis adjacent to the growth plate with a thin sclerotic margin and internal calcifications. Area of cortical breach best seen on sagittal and coronal reconstructions. No periosteal reaction or soft tissue component.

Case Discussion

The patient's age and the CT features are highly suggestive of chondroblastoma.

The differential is that of other lesions with a predilection for the epiphysis or apophysis. Please refer to the article: differential for an epiphyseal lesion.
