Right shoulder pain with limited range of motion.
Patient Data
On AP radiography of the right shoulder, a lytic lesion with lobulated margins and irregular thin sclerotic rim is seen which arising in the scapular side of right glenohumeral joint. Internal calcification also is noted. There is no evidence of cortical destruction or periosteal reaction.
Case Discussion
The findings in a 30 year old patient with right shoulder pain and limited range of motion compatible with benign bone neoplasm. Chondroblastoma is the most probable diagnosis (and is histologically proven).
Chondroblastomas (along with chondromyxoid fibroma) constitute the “C” in the FEGNOMASHIC mnemonic for benign appearing cystic lesions.2
