There is a large mass at the right side of the lumbar spine with rings and arcs calcification or popcorn calcification and seems to arise from transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae.
Case Discussion
The findings of x-ray are consistent of chondrosarcoma from the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae. (histology proven)
Chondrosarcoma usually occurs in the trunk bones (pelvic girdle, shoulder, ribs) followed by the femur and humerus and is very rare in the spine accounting for about 5% of all chondrosarcomas.
