Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

There is a soft tissue mass centered on the clival region with extension to the sphenoid sinus. It appears of low signal intensity on T1WI, inhomogeneous high signal intensity on T2WI with heterogeneous enhancement and honeycomb appearance following IV contrast. Areas of internal restricted diffusion are noted on DWI/ADC. There is an extension to the left cavernous sinus with a reduced diameter of the internal carotid artery as compared to the right side. Upwards displacement of the pituitary gland with homogeneous enhancement.

Case Discussion

MRI appearances of a clival chordoma. This was a histopathologically proven chondroid chordoma.

A chondroid chordoma has the best prognosis a compared with the other subtypes of chordoma.
