Choroid plexus calcification through the foramina of Luschka

Patient Data

Age: 75-80 years
Gender: Female

Bilateral linear calcification in the 4th ventricle extending laterally though the foramina of Luschka, represent choroid plexus calcification. This can mimic interventricular haemorrhage.

Marked choroid plexus calcification in the lateral ventricles.

No acute infarct. Old bilateral insular ischaemic changes.

Case Discussion

The choroid plexus can protrude out the 4th ventricle through the foramina of Luschka and when calcified is termed Bochdalek's flower basket, mimicking SAH.
