Presentation

Assessment by ophthalmologist. Need to exclude ocular tumor.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
mri

Thin symmetrical enhancing strands with a divergent base towards the retina in the right globe consistent with a choroidal detachment.

No underlying enhancing choroidal mass. No high T1 signal to suggest a choroidal melanoma.

The intraconal and extraconal spaces are normal in appearance.

Normal intracranial appearances.

Case Discussion

The electronic medical notes detailed a choroidal detachment on ophthalmic examination (not given in the request), but confirming the MRI findings.

The divergent nature of the intra-orbital leaflets distinguishes a choroidal from a retinal detachment, the latter being V-shaped.
