Info
Right sided preseptal cellulitis as well as enhancement of right lacrimal gland due to recent trauma with inflammatory changes are seen.
Accumulation of fluid in suprachoroidal space at right globe causing detachment of the choroid from underlying sclera is depicted. Diffuse enhancement of suprachoroidal space due to inflammatory changes is visible. This is compatible with choroid effusion.
Left globe is unremarkable.
Case Discussion
This is a nice case for choroid effusion resultant from penetrating ocular trauma.
- choroidal detachment is a detachment of the choroid from the underlying sclera due to the accumulation of fluid in the suprachoroidal space
- choroidal effusions appear on CT as hypodense linear fluid collections elevating a thick hyperdense choroid; on MRI, they usually will exhibit low T1 and high T2 signal
