Post mortem findings characteristic of chronic passive liver congestion.
The darker areas in this image are congested (dilated) central veins and sinusoids. The paler areas are liver parenchyma where the hepatocytes have undergone fatty change. Classically described as a "nutmeg" liver. Few students today know of a nutmeg, especially of its cut surface appearance, so a photo of these spice seeds is included.
