Chronic constipation

Presentation

Multiple previous admission with constipation. Distended abdomen.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
x-ray

A phenomenal amount of fecal loading throughout the abdomen with a markedly distended rectum.

Air in the distal rectum.   No bowel obstruction.

Case Discussion

This is a pretty extreme example of constipation.   This patient has a known history of chronic constipation.

This can be more objectively assessed with colonic transit studies.
