Abnormal expansion and sclerosis of the base of the 4th metacarpal, associated with multiple osteolytic lesions and cortical erosion.
Case Discussion
A young male patient with neglected osteomyelitis of the 4th metatarsal now describes swelling of the foot with a low-grade fever. CT shows an abnormal expansion of the 4th metatarsal medullary cavity with thickening of the cortex as well as small lucent areas and cortical destruction near its base. CT findings suggest possible chronic osteomyelitis.
