Chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst

Presentation

Work up for chronic abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

A 28 mm non-enhanced unilocular cystic lesion is present at the pancreatic head, accompanied by main pancreatic duct dilatation without intraductal enhancing components. There are also multiple coarse calcified foci at the pancreas, particularly in the head and uncinate process.

Case Discussion

Features are most consistent with chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst that is pathology-proven with endoscopic ultrasonography and fine needle aspiration.

Pancreatic pseudocysts are common sequelae of acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis and the most common cystic lesion of the pancreas.
