Presentation

Recurrent swelling of the parotid glands

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mri

The right parotid gland shows reduced volume, whereas the left parotid gland is moderately enlarged. Innumerable cystic lesions (size<4 mm) disseminated throughout the deep and superficial lobes of low signal on T1, high signal on T2. The postcontrast sequences show moderate heterogeneous enhancement of both parotid glands.

Both submandibular glands appear normal in size and signal intensity.

MRI features are most consistent with chronic parotitis.
