Chronic perisplenitis

Presentation

Recurrent attacks of left hypochondrial pain with known history of sickle cell disease. He was clinically suspected to have splenic infarcts.

Patient Data

Age: 51 years
Gender: Male
CT

Moderate splenomegaly. Multiple disctere marginal circumferential capsular and subcapsular linear calcification. No infarcts.

Case Discussion

Recurrent left hypochondrial pain in conjunction with CT scan findings of splenomegaly and marginal splenic capsular linear calcification are consistent with chronic perisplenitis.
