Age: 60 years

Liver

ultrasound

Liver has irregular contours and remains with homogenous echotexture, no focal lesions. Portal vein is patent and has anterograde flow, no recanalization of the paraumbilical vein. No biliary tree dilatation, normal gallbladder. No gallstones.

Spleen is normal. No evidence of varices and no free fluid in the peritoneal cavity.

Case Discussion

This patient was known to have hepatitis C, never treated.

Irregular liver contours are highly suggestive of cirrhosis, later confirmed on sonoelastography.
