Clavicle fracture

Presentation

Fell down 15 steps, landed on his right side. Bony tenderness to head of humerus and ACJ.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Comminuted non-displaced fracture of the distal right clavicle does not extend into the AC joint.  Otherwise unremarkable appearances.

Incidental note of right nipple piercing.

Case Discussion

Under the Robinson classification of clavicular fractures, this is a type 3A1 (lateral fifth undisplaced extra-articular fracture).
