Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Presentation

Tripped and fell.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

Severely comminuted, displaced fracture of the mid-shaft of the left clavicle with depression of the lateral fracture fragment and comminution of the vertically orientated central fracture fragments.  The acromioclavicular joint appears enlocated.

4 month followup

Modality: X-ray

A comminuted fracture is noted with overlap and angulation. Callus is noted around the fracture fragments.

Case Discussion

Typical appearances of a clavicular fracture with union of a significantly displaced fracture, which strangely enough often results in a good functional outcome.
