Fall from standing height onto the right shoulder.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Radiographs revealed a displaced extra-articular distal third clavicle fracture.

The fracture can be classified as a Robinson type 3B1: lateral 1/5 displaced extra-articular fracture.

Case Discussion

Distal third clavicle fractures (or lateral clavicle fractures) are far less common than midshaft ones. Unlike the middle third counterpart, distal third fractures oftentimes require operative treatment.
