Presentation

Football injury. Fracture?

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

Midshaft clavicle fracture with mild angulation. 

6 weeks later

x-ray

Midshaft clavicle fracture shows healing with bridging callus. Mild residual angulation. 

10 weeks post initial injury, the patient had a fall with re-occurrence of right clavicular pain. 

10 weeks post initial injury

x-ray

New lucency through the previously uniting fracture reflecting a re-fracture. 

Two weeks later

x-ray

Mid clavicular shaft fracture sclerosis of the fracture line and calcified callus formation with fracture healing.

Case Discussion

Clavicular refractures are uncommon, and seem to be more common in patients who undergo surgical treatment.
