Macroscopic Hematuria.
Patient Data
Relatively well-circumscribed left renal mass measuring 29 x 27 x 24 mm, hypodense on non-contrast with no calcification, strongly enhanced on arterial phase with washout on portal phase. There is an extension to the renal sinus with a mass effect on the renal cavities. No extrarenal extension. No abdominal lymphadenopathy. The left renal vein and IVC are patent.
Liver, adrenal glands, pancreas and spleen are normal.
Small gallstone.
Sacral Tarlov cyst.
Case Discussion
The patient went to have a left nephrectomy with a histopathological exam that confirm the diagnosis of a Clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of renal cell carcinoma and represents around 75-80% of cases of renal cell carcinoma.
