Celiacomesenteric trunk

HCC patient for TACE. Incident vascular finding.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

CT reveals the common origin of both celiac trunk and SMA (superior mesenteric artery) as the normal variant. Also, segment VIII hypervascular hepatic lesion consistent with HCC. 

DSA (angiography)

Angiogram shows the celiac-mesenteric trunk.

Case Discussion

A celiacomesenteric trunk, with the celiac trunk and superior mesenteric arteries having a common origin from the aorta, accounts for less than 1% of all splanchnic artery anomalies.
