Presentation

Accidentally swallowed a coin few hours earlier. Feeling of foreign body.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

The coin is visible in the region of the jugulum, and is in the frontal plane, confirming its esophageal position. Otherwise normal study. 

Case Discussion

The thoracic inlet is a typical location where swallowed coins get stuck. Its is important to clarify early on that the swallowed object is not a magnet or button battery, which need immediate attention.
