Abnormal mural thickening of the bowel loops is noted in the periphery of the abdomen representing thickened colons. Mild free fluid is also noted within the peritoneal cavity.
Case Discussion
Based on sole ultrasonography, it is difficult to classify the type of colitis. CT or MR may be used for further classification.
This patient was diagnosed and treated as infectious colitis by the referring physician.
