There is an impression of thickening of the descending colon from the splenic flexure down to at least its mid portion, which would be in keeping with known ulcerative colitis. No evidence of toxic megacolon, obstruction or perforation.
Case Discussion
This is a case of colitis given the patient's presentation and background. The abdominal X-ray highlights the area of colonic thickening in keeping with the clinical diagnosis. Subsequently, the patient tested positive for Clostridioides difficile and was started on treatment for Clostridioides difficile colitis.
