History of slipped and fall, patient landed on the ground forcefully with his left outstretched hand first. On examination: tenderness, swelling, and deformity in the left wrist.

A comminuted fracture in the distal left radius with dorsal displacement.
No ulnar styloid fracture.

The fracture happens when falling on the outstretched hand resulting in an upward (posterior) displacement of the distal fragment and obvious deformity.
