Colloid cyst of the third ventricle

Presentation

Routine scan post-shunting.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Well-defined rounded hyperdense lesion at the anterior margin of the third ventricle, typical of a colloid cyst of the third ventricle. Mild age-related peripheral volume loss. Bilateral ventriculo-peritoneal shunts are demonstrated as well.

Case Discussion

The patient initially presented with hydrocephalus which is a common complication of a colloid cyst of the third ventricle.
