Colon adenocarcinoma

Patient complains of recurrent abdominal pain in the last month.

Age: 52
Gender: Male

CT Abdomen and pelvis

Focal thickening of the colonic wall in the proximal transverse colon with luminal narrowing.


Case Discussion

The patient had a segment with colonoscopy and biopsy, which revealed that it was a colonic adenocarcinoma (pathological confirmation).

Colorectal cancers can be found anywhere from the cecum to the rectum, in the following distribution:

  • recto-sigmoid : 55%
  • cecum and ascending colon : 22%
  • transverse colon : 11%
  • descending colon : 6%
