Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Barium-filled outpouchings are seen in both single and double-contrast studies, involving mainly the ascending, descending and sigmoid colon as well as colonic flexures. Some outpouchings are filled with gases and others are filled with air depending on projection. A character differentiates diverticulosis from colonic polyps. There are no signs of colonic masses or luminal narrowing and no abnormal mucosal thickening could be seen.
