Presentation

CT performed to search for residual stones after ESWL of a ureter stone on the right and removal of the ureteric stent. Rectum resection for cancer performed 8 months earlier. Pneumaturia.

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Retrovesical abscess with gas inclusions. Intravesical air bubbles getting larger during the course of the examination. Small (3 mm) residual ureteric stone on the right. No contrast extravasation from the urinary system

The gas-filled abscess involves the prostate and seminal vesicles. There is a pathologic tract between the rectum and the abscess cavity. No direct recto-vesical fistula. Gas in the bladder comes from the prostatic urethra.
