Colorectal carcinoma (sigmoid)

Presentation

Bleeding per rectum. Colonoscopy revealed a sigmoid colon growth.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

Mid sigmoid colon non-circumferential enhancing mural growth with transerosal spread. Associated 2 cm sigmoid mesocolic deposit with four to five subcentimetric pericolonic lymph nodes. Moderate pericolonic fat stranding with mild mesenteric fluid. No other distant abdominal spread. 

Case Discussion

A classic case of colorectal carcinoma that has breached all layers of the gut and deposited in the mesentery with local lymph node spread.
