Fracture of the lateral tibial plateau and proximal fibula fracture with avulsed ACL tibial insertion and posterolateral corner injury
Presentation
Knee trauma in a MVA collision.
Patient Data
split comminuted depression fracture of the lateral tibial plateau as well as fracture of the tibial spine with moderate lipohemarthrosis
comminuted displaced fracture of the proximal fibula with postero-lateral displacement of the distal fibular fracture segment
fracture with focal bone contusion within the antero-lateral femoral condyle
tri-partite patella
thin fracture within the anteromedial tibial plateau; yet with no significant displacement
comminuted split depression fracture of the lateral tibial plateau as well as fracture of the tibial spine with moderate lipohemarthrosis
comminuted displaced fracture of the proximal fibula with postero- lateral displacement of the distal fibular fracture segment
torn lateral collateral ligament with ill defined and thickened with increased signal intensity
avulsed coronary ligament
fracture with focal marrow edema contusion is noted within the antero-lateral femoral condyle demonstrating hypointense T1 as well as hyperintense T2, PDFS signal
tri-partite patella
contusion of the soleus muscle with patchy areas of hyperintense T1 and T2 signal intensity
no meniscal tear evident
avulsion fracture of the tibial ACL insertion
fracture within the anteromedial tibial plateau with focal bone contusion; yet with no significant displacement
intact PCL and medial collateral ligaments as well as quadriceps, patellar tendons and patellar retinaculae
Case Discussion
comminuted depressed fracture of the lateral tibial plateau with moderate lipohemarthrosis as well as posterolateral corner injury with comminuted fracture of the proximal fibula and torn lateral collateral ligament
ACL sprain with avulsion of its tibial attachment
