Staging CT for cervical cancer.
Patient Data
No suspicious pulmonary lesions seen. Right lobe thyroid tiny calcified nodule. No sizable mediastinal, hilar, or axillary lymphadenopathy seen. No pleural or pericardial effusions seen. The liver is average size with no focal lesions or dilated intrahepatic bile radicles seen. Unremarkable CT features of gallbladder, CBD, portal vein, pancreas, spleen, adrenals, kidneys
Hepatic artery is seen originating directly from the aorta (normal variant).
Case Discussion
The common hepatic artery may arise from the abdominal aorta or superior mesenteric artery (SMA). All or part of the right and left hepatic arteries may arise from other vessels.
The hepatic artery arises from the aorta in ~2% of people.
