Presentation

Routine obstetric ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Anomaly scan at 23 weeks

Single live fetus with normal heart rate.

Single umbilical artery.

Thickened ventricular walls.

Loss of atrioventricular valves off-setting.

Common ventricular inlet.

Follow up scan at 27 weeks

Re-demonstration of previously seen findings.

Case Discussion

Complete atrioventricular septal defect is a combination of both atrial and ventricular septal defects with common atrioventricular valves.

Color Doppler demonstrated a common ventricular inlet. 

In this case, it presented with a single umbilical artery.

Postnatal echocardiography confirmed the findings (images not available).
