Case contributed by Dr Prashanth M N

2 month old child with history of urinary tract infection

Patient Data

Age: 2 months
Gender: Female

Voiding cystoureterogram study shows Complete right ureteric duplication with vesicoureteric reflux in both moieties.

Upper moiety is opacified in its entire length with no significant dilatation suggesting Grade II reflux.

Lower moiety shows moderately dilated & tortuous ureter with forniceal blunting suggesting Grade IV reflux.

Case Discussion

Complete ureteral duplication is less common than incomplete duplication but clinically more significant.

Weigert Meyer law describes that the upper ureter has a more inferior & medial insertion than the lower ureter. Ureterocele being more common in upper moiety while reflux is more commoner in lower moiety.
