Complex regional pain syndrome

Case contributed by Dr Paul Simkin

Ongoing right hand pain, 3 months following distal radius fracture.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

There is diffuse periarticular osteopenia involving all joints distal to the fracture site, more severe than what was seen on the previous study. This is consistent with a complex regional pain syndrome.

Earlier x-ray for comparison (6 weeks prior to current images)
