Concomitant talus bone neck and cuboid bone fractures

Presentation

Fall from the height and consequent soft tissue swelling and pain in the left side ankle and foot.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Displaced comminuted fractures in talus bone neck extended within the head, subtalar joint, and base of lateral process are seen. Bone island in talus bone upper medial part is also seen. Diffuse soft tissue swelling is noted.
Displaced fracture in cuboid bone distal segment is also noted

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of concomitant fractures of the talus bone head and neck and cuboid bone. The talus neck fractures can be classified based on Hawkins classification. One of the major complications of the talus neck fracture is avascular necrosis of the talus.
