Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation with partial anomalous pulmonary venous return

Chronic cough.

Patient Data

Age: 20-25 years
Gender: Female

Lobulated mass in left upper lobe, broad based towards mediastinal pleura.

A lobulated cystic lung mass in left upper lobe.

Anomalous drainage of pulmonary veins from the apicoposterior segment of the left upper lobe into the left brachiocephalic vein, creating a left-to-right shunt.

Case Discussion

Imaging findings are pathognomonic. 

A multiloculated cystic lung mass in a young patient, which conforms to a type 1 congenital pulmonary airway malformation.

Anomalous drainage of pulmonary veins into the systemic veins, in this case, from left upper lung to left brachiocephalic vein.
