Patient Data

Age: 1 year
Gender: Male

Hepatomegaly.

Multiple hepatic lesions were identified. The largest of them measures 12 cm its longest dimension.

These lesions are fluid density, with no post-contrast enhancement on the arterial, porto-venous, or delayed phases, in keeping with a cystic nature of these lesions.

Resultant gross hepatomegaly occupies most of the abdominopelvic cavity, causing compression over the other adjacent organs, and bowel displacement.

Findings are suggestive of congenital hepatic mesenchymal hamartomas.

The other abdominal organs show no abnormalities.

Case Discussion

Hepatic mesenchymal hamartomas are rare congenital liver disease. Our patient presented with abdominal distension that is progressive in nature. Radiological findings include hepatic cystic lesions in variable sizes and locations within the liver that was managed with right hepatectomy and hepatic mesenchymal hamartoma was proved by pathology.
